STDs Mustn't be Neglected

Unless you have been living under a rock all of your life, you have most likely heard of sexually transmitted diseases, and also all of the horrors that go along with them.? It?s not a pretty business to talk about what goes on when someone is infected with an STD. But hardly ever do people discuss what happens if certain STDs go unchecked. People don?t realize the risks that they are taking by not getting checked out.

One such risk is Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). It is a serious infection of the female reproductive system that can develop when particular sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) go without treatment. In most cases, it happens when bacteria from the STD in the vagina or cervix move into the uterus and upper genital tract. The most typical organisms that lead to PID are gonorrhea and chlamydia, that are both highly contagious STDs.

Perhaps the most common mistake from most females is that by using douche, they will be safe from any such infections or diseases.

Nevertheless, it can actually increase a female?s risk of contracting STDs because it can change the natural flora of the vagina and may flush bacteria higher into the genital tract.

Luckily for all the females out there, PID can be treated with antibiotics, which kill the bacteria that causes the sickness. Regrettably, if damage has already occurred in the reproductive organs, the antibiotics will not be able to reverse what has happened, but it will stop further spread of the infection. Any damage that is done will unfortunately be permanent.

Consequently, now you may be asking yourself, ?well, how do I find out if I have this disease?? Diagnosing PID is not always a simple procedure because the site of the infection cannot be examined easily and PID symptoms are similar to other conditions such as appendicitis. You will most likely have a routine pelvic exam administered.? During the pelvic exam, the medical technician might take samples to look for the germs that cause gonorrhea and chlamydia infections. As well, blood tests also may be done.

As with any medical problem, if you feel that something is wrong, or even if you are suspicious, do yourself a favor and go get examined immediately.? The repercussions are too great of a risk to take if you are simply too scared or ignorant to deal with the fact you might have an STD.? Go get tested today.
